It started with a problem.

In 1986, Ray Olson was talking with a contractor friend who was frustrated. There was no reliable, simple way to mount signal hardware to a mast arm without calling in extra hands and special tools. The process was slow, complicated, and nobody had bothered to fix it.

Ray had an idea on his way home from a trip to Colorado. Back at the Olson Aluminum Castings foundry in Rockford, Illinois — the same family foundry his father Roy had started in 1945 — Ray and his engineers sketched out a solution: a cast aluminum bracket with a band clamp design that one person could install alone, without special tools. He called it Sky Bracket.

It worked. Word spread. Contractors started calling.

What began as a solution for a friend grew into a full product line — signal mounts, camera mounts, sign mounts, span wire hardware, and custom mounting solutions for virtually any application in the traffic infrastructure space. Every piece cast and assembled right in Rockford, the same way it always has been.

When Tad Olson stepped into the business, he brought the same standard his father and uncle had built into OAC for decades — precision, reliability, and the kind of customer relationships that span generations. Under his leadership, Sky Bracket scaled. New markets opened. New customers found what contractors had known for years: when you need mounting hardware, Sky Bracket delivers. Always in stock. Always on time.

Today, Angela Olson leads the sales effort — building relationships with DOT engineers, contractors, and distributors from Florida to Washington, putting product in people’s hands and showing them firsthand why one person, standard tools, and a Sky Bracket kit is all you need.
